Super pup “Craigie Delegate” from the Lester Raines Kennel put on a dominating show when he broke on top of the Southland Derby championship field and never looked back, eventually winning by seven lengths.

Using a prime #1 post position next to the rail, he broke sharp and gained the lead immediately. Bettors saw that advantage combined with the talent of this 2 1/2 year old and made him the 3/2 betting favorite in which he didn’t disappoint.

Craigie Delegate won just over $20,000 over his 31 and a half second romp on the Arkansas Course for owners Lester Raines and John Draper. The Southland Derby Stakes was his 2nd stake victory of the year. He also captured the Herb Legg Futurity stake back in May. It was his 21st win of the season out of 31 starts.

Craigie Delegate will likely be a factor in the upcoming Festival of Stakes for trainer Monte Hoopes.
