We are sad to report that superstar SH Avatar has passed away. The nation's leading sire and all time leading money earner had been living the life of a pet at the home of former trainer, Darren Flahive in Kansas City. Over the last few weeks he had developed some lumps which turned out to be cancerous. Bob Hardison relayed that "his age and advancing condition all but eliminated any surgical possibilities and it was clear he was beginning to suffer, so we (Bob, Tom Sugihara, Toye Cole and Darren) decided to have him euthanized."

He will be missed but his legend and progeny will carry on for many years. Avatar was recently selected for induction into the Greyhound Hall of Fame. That ceremony will take place at this year's fall meet.

RIP to the legendary SH Avatar.
