ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Watson Racing made up for lost time this past week at Derby Lane.
Despite having two of its seven live-racing performances canceled by Tropical Storm Eta, Watson Racing recorded kennel-leading 11 victories to climb into second place in the win standings.
One of 14 kennels at Derby Lane, Watson Racing won at least once on every card – capped by a five-win performance on Saturday’s matinee - to improve its win total to 194 under the leadership of kennel manager-trainer Alan Friedman. Watson Racing only trails three-time kennel champion Everett Racing, which leads with 199.
The six-month meet is scheduled to end Dec. 27.
Floyd kennel was the only other operation to reach double-digit wins for the week with 10.
Capabal kennel is third in the standings with 191 victories, followed by reigning champion Lester Raines at 188 and Abernathy at 177.
