LK’s True Retro of Lashmet kennel complete a perfect four-round qualifying performance and Hula Hoopn Haley of Capabal kennel won to nail down a championship berth in the $75,000 Distance Classic Wednesday at Derby Lane.

Eight dogs with the most accumulative points advance to the 660-yard finale Saturday night.

LK’s True Retro continued her career-best form with a two-length victory in 38.25 seconds and paid $10.40. The 29-month-old female from a litter by Barcelona Boss and LK’s Cherokee finished atop the point standings with 64. The four-race win streak is her best lifetime run. She is trained by Ken Deacon for owners John and Jill Lashmet.

Hula Hoopn Haley needed a big effort to make the championship race after finishing last in her third-round qualifier. Entering Wednesday with 18 points, she added 16 to her total with a seven-length victory in 37.86 seconds and returned $8.40. The 40-month-old female from a litter by Raiders Blaze and BKR Raven is trained by Belinda Parker for owner Ann Occhino.

LK’s True Retro and Hula Hoopn Haley will be joined in the title race by Farmer Racing kennel’s HKF Sponge Bob and Rich N Famous, D’Arcy kennel’s Tempest, Lester Raines kennel’s Flying Hypatia, Rangel kennel’s PJ Kindadontcare and Capabal kennel’s Swamp Yankee.
