Husker Magic, one of the best greyhounds in the sport’s history, was the best on Tuesday (June 21) when she logged her 105th lifetime victory at Derby Lane in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Starting from the No. 1 box, Husker Magic rolled to a six-length Grade A victory to extend her current win streak to five. Her time of 30.61 seconds for 550 yards was the best among 120 dogs that competed on the 15-race matinee card.
The 50-month-old female from a litter by Rhythmless and Casino Zada moved into a tie for 33rd place on the National Greyhound Association’s all-time win list. Claudio Lopez trains the 2015 Rural Rube winner and All-America team captain for the I Mark Kennels team of Derby Lane kennel owner Jim Abernathy of St. Petersburg, Arthur Kaufman of Sarasota, Fla., and Terry Haber of Grapevine, Ark. The three-time stakes winner has made 167 starts.
