Tiger goes Tuesday

By Vera Rasnake   Tue, Jan 17, 2012

McAllister kennel's Tiger Boy (Flying Penske x Flying Exquisite) is seeking four in a row.

McAllister kennel's Tiger Boy (Flying Penske x Flying Exquisite) is seeking four in a row. The strapping 72-pound male is roaring loudly since his debut on January 4. Tiger Boy will compete in race 10 from post 4. The estimated post time will be 9:47pm, est. Fans that can't make the races live can watch the race via the internet at http://www.derbylane.com/Search_Email.aspx

Tiger Boy has also clocked three of the top four best times. Tiger Boy's invasion is emulating Kiowa Sweet Trey's 2002 style (Sweet Trey being Tiger Boy's maternal grandsire). Trey debuted with a win and captured the Inaugural and All-Star Kennel Preview. He was undefeated in the Sprint Classic rounds and entered the stakes final with 11 in a row. His third place finish in the final was Trey's only Derby Lane loss. Tiger Boy seeks four in a row Tuesday night January 17. Tiger Boy is also the leading entry in the 28th annual Matinee Idol stakes. Qualifying rounds are Wednesday matinee January 25. Sixteen greyhounds will be featured in two heats. The top four from each of the races will become the eight greyhounds that make up this year's race on January 28th.

Other news: Patriot kennel continues to expand their opening lead in the kennel standings for the New Year. The kennel was 9 wins in front of D'Arcy (25) heading into Monday's Martin Luther King special matinee. Red Oak Racing, Cal Holland and McAllister are all tied in third place with 21 wins each.

Since 1978 I have been tutored by the most respected leaders in the industry at tracks in WV, WI and FL. As Media Relations Director and Company Spokeswoman I have a unique opportunity to share my passion for the sport. I have written hundreds of feature stories and taken just as many greyhound photos. My articles have been published nationally and internationally. I have been a color analyst on Sky Network at the Irish Derby multiple times and on America’s Night of Stars. I am also a former Greyhound trainer.

I am proud to call Derby Lane home, which is the most established Greyhound racetrack in the nation since 1925. I have met iconic kennel operators and watched the greatest greyhounds of the past decade including Dominator, Talentedmrripley and Flying Coal City-all historic award winners. I have written and produced videos used to honor industry people and Greyhound athletes at the Greyhound Hall of Fame and coordinated track shots for the Born to Run and Ensuring the Welfare of the Racing Greyhound videos. I have coordinated major film projects at Derby Lane including Animal Planet’s "Breed All About It", Oceans 11 and baseball’s Carl Crawford’s commercial. I coordinated all of the media for the world’s biggest Greyhound stakes in 2005-2006 when Derby Lane hosted the Million Dollar races. I am also a GPA volunteer. I have two grown daughters, a granddaughter and a racing greyhound. I am blessed with endless energy and share a home in FL with two retired Greyhounds.
