The Nova kennel star could upstage the distance athletes vying for a slot in the semifinals the same night The qualifiers for the stakes will be held in races 4,6,8 and 10 Wednesday night (Dec. 7) where only 16 of the 31 racers will advance. Patriot kennel’s Kay On With It was pulled from the stakes after round one causing the seven-dog field in race six.
Round one winners MW Ispiperin (Alabama), AHK Colormegone (Abernathy), Storm Rush (Hambleton) and Flying Marvelous (McAllister) hope for repeat victories. The points will be tallied following race ten to produce the sweet 16 for the first of two semifinals to be held Saturday night December 10.
Hi Noon Renegade will seek the 36th victory and a sixth in-a-row in race 13, which is the back-half of the Twin Trifecta that is forced out every Wednesday night. Renegade (Dodgem By Design x Bryan’s Baby) is prepping for the St. Petersburg Inaugural. The stakes will be the first in celebration of Derby Lane’s 87 years of racing beginning in January 2012.
Other news: The Hambleton kennel has snatched the top spot away from McAllister, as the two battle it out for the kennel title. Hambleton, which is a new kennel this meet, is raising nice pups that include St. Pete Derby champ Storm Rush, who is currently competing in the 660-yard challenge. Hambleton is five in front with 236 wins over McAllsiter. Red Oak Racing is firmly in third place with 223 wins followed by Patriot (203)and J. E. O’Donnell, Jr.(191) making up the top five.
