Bluffs Run 2012 stake schedule
The Bluffs Run season will begin with the $60,000 Bracket Challenge in March. The stakes echoes the NCAA Basketball Tournament with greyhounds seeded and paired against each other. The field starts with 64 greyhounds on March 14 and battle down to the championship race of two on March 31.
The Bluffs Run season will begin with the $60,000 Bracket Challenge in March. The stakes echoes the NCAA Basketball Tournament with greyhounds seeded and paired against each other. The field starts with 64 greyhounds on March 14 and battle down to the championship race of two on March 31.
The $60,000 3/8 Mile Derby will open on April 18 with a field of 80 greyhounds. That championship race is set for May 5.
The 2012 $60,000 Juvenile begins on May 30 for 96 greyhounds. To be eligible, a greyhound must be under 26 months of age on May 22, 2012 and must have won a Grade M race at Bluffs Run or currently be a Grade M at Bluffs Run. The final is set for June 16.
The $60,000 Bluffs Run Open will have a field of 96 greyhounds. It will start July 11 with the final set for July 28.
New to the Bluffs Run schedule is the $60,000 Kennel Medley. Each kennel will race a greyhound in a 3/6-mile race on September 15, in a 5/16-mile race on September 22, in a 3/8-mile race on September 29 and in a 7/16-mile race on October 6. The kennel earning the most points under the track’s tradition scoring system of 15 points for a win and on down will capture the Medley.
The stakes season will be completed with the 27th running of the $500,000 Iowa Breeders Classic. The Classic opens October 17 with a field of 120 greyhounds. The final is set for November 3.
