2011 Jacksonville Juvenile Picks

Saturday - 12/10/2011

The finals of the 2011 Jacksonville Juvenile will run on Saturday evening December 10, 2011 in the 11th race on the card. The best of the best are ready for the title and after the post position draw, a couple of standouts got an advantage. So, let's look at this race in further detail.

Here it's all about the best greyhounds drawing a great post position. Clearly I think that Kiowa Fire Fly is the one to beat in this effort. He love, love, love, loves the rail and gets to start really close here in the 2 box. He has no early speed to his inside with Snj Black Porter, so it's just like starting from the red box. In his last 4 efforts from the 1 box, he has not been beaten and that includes three rounds in qualifying. He has enough early to see the front end here and once in the lead he will take home the prize. No one has ever caught him on the front end, and I don't see that trend breaking in this effort. Pushing the pace and making Fire Fly work for it will be Offthebrakedrake. Drake was only one of two greyhounds to finish in the trifecta in all 4 of the rounds and in each he was around the pace throughout. He won 2 of those efforts and both of those came on the front end. he has blazing early speed, for a DQ greyhound, and will clear early from the outside post. Even though he likes to race from the rail, the 8 box will not be a hindrance tonight. Look for him to press from box to wire and challenge for the win with every step he takes around the racetrack. Now for the closing part of the race and Snj Black Porter. Clearly this greyhounds runs better from the outside, but no one was more consistent in the rounds and no one showed more heart than Porter did. He didn't miss the quiniela in any start and he posted up a huge win in the semi-finals to secure himself a spot in this race. He has late gears the others just wish they had at their disposable, but from this rail post, he is going to have to break if he wants a shot to win. It's going to be tough to outdo Fire Fly early, but that is the task ahead of him here. If he can pull off a holeshot, he might have a good inside track at a stakes title tonight. Now for the longshot in the field, Lk's Merrel. This greyhound is far better than you can see with his lines and since returning he is getting stronger and faster in each and every effort. What he lacks for in experience, he makes up with sure raw close power and determination. He might not be on the favorites radar in this race, but he will keep on coming all the way to the finish line and challenge the leaders late for the win.

So in this final round race, I like the 2-8-1-7.

Good Luck and safe racing to all, and let the puppies leave it all on the track in this final!
