Spring Meet Tidbits
A few more newsy notes on the upcoming NGA Spring Meet (Apr. 18-23) in Abilene:
- An even 100 schooling races were held Thursday at the NGA Track. In the morning's very first race, Steve Ward's and Penny Wick's youngster SE's Tali Aspen became the only pup to break the 30-second barrier in pre-stake schooling the entire week thus far, turning in a blistering 29.88 winning time. SE's Tali Aspen is a November 2009 brindle daughter of Kiowa WW Brother-Time For A Party, entered in the Track Stakes and consigned to the Auction....Schooling will wrap up with a relatively short program (30 races) on Friday morning, starting at 8:30. Forecast is calling for some possible storms in the area beginning tonight and on Friday.
- Tuesday night's Dinner/Auction to benefit the Hall Of Fame (Apr. 19) has already attracted 58 auction consignments (see list elsewhere on this website) and a growing number of raffle prizes. All meet attendees are invited to join in the evening's festivities. A delicious meal (pork loin the main course, with some excellent side dishes including a highly touted potato salad) will be served. Dinner is by donation (suggested, $15). NGA member and auctioneer Craig Heinen has volunteered his services to conduct the sale. Program, which includes a silent auction, starts at 6 p.m.
- Deadline for brood stock consignments will be tomorrow (Friday), Apr. 15 at noon. The Brood Stock Auction will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday night, Apr. 22.
