Auction a big success
The NGA Spring Meet Auction exceeded most attendees' expectations by unofficially doing more than $725,000 with in-the-ring sales on the pups from the Meet's Track Stakes. Total sales within 90 minutes after the sale rose to $747,000, with a few additional out-of-ring, post-auction sales apt to be reported in the next few days.

Top sale was $35,000 for SE's Tali Aspen, who had the two fastest times of the meet--both 30-flat performances en route to easy wins in her November stake. She's a daughter of Kiowa WW Brother-Time For A Party and is owned by Steve Ward and Penny Wick. Tali Aspen was purchased by Terry Scott of Wayland, KY.
Two littermates, SE's Sequoia and SE's Tali Willow, sold for $23,000 and $17,000, respectively.
"This sale is going to be like sharks in a feeding frenzy," correctly predicted Ken Biehle on Friday afternoon. Biehle wound up as clearly the top seller for the meet, both in terms of numbers and for total price, although official figures have not been tallied.
The younger pups at the meet (Decembers, Januarys, Februarys) sold well on Friday night. The first 57 lots in the catalog, featuring pups of these ages, sold for more than $135,000.
Unofficial records show that as many as 20 pups sold for for five-figures or more during this meet. Among the top sales were littermates Kells Danny Boy and Kells Outlaw (Atascocita Leroy-Too Late, sold by John Dalton) for $26,000 and $16,000 respectively; TK Black Mamba (sold by Marty Tanner) for $23,500; Helen Stout's littermates Switzler Mustard and Switzler Cloves (Coldwater Keelin-Switzler Teatime), who sold for $18,000 and $16,000 respectively; Biehle's trio of littermates out of Lonesome Cry-Tipp Gina, who'd swept the August/September main-stakes--BI's Oh Cee for $12,000, BI'sTooters for $20,000 and BI's Cole for $12,500; littermates TK Mad Money and TK Top Flight (Dodgem By Design-Rooftop Ladybug, sold by Tanner) for $13,000 and $11,500 respectively; Biehle's KB's Camden ($19,000), KB's Smokin Jess ($17,500); Robert Litke's Kebo Kapsizer for $17,000; Alan Murray and Marcy Strong's Windy Randy for $15,500; John Boyd's Craigie I Am Red; Willis Hill's HS Bolt and Biehle's KB's Mr. Fulton KB's Marquez (each at $12,000); and Tanner's TK Hippy Chick ($10,000).
The sale once again featured live streaming on the internet and on-line bidding. More than 80 bids were received in each of the programs, and five pups were sold on-line.
The Brood Stock sale featured 12 females that paraded through the ring, with eight selling for $16,300. Top sale was Ken and Janet Allen's San Tan Nip, going for $5,000.

Crowds for the last three days' events at the meet were exceptionally large, despite it being a Spring Meet (usually smaller than the Fall's) and with only 258 pups competing in the NGA Track Stakes.
Fall Meet dates have been set for Oct. 10-15 in Abilene.
