Abrahamson Kennel’s CG’s Sneaker posted a box-to-wire effort in capturing the $35,000 West Virginia Greyhound Owners and Breeders Association Juvenile Stakes Saturday afternoon at Wheeling Island.

Breaking from the four box, CG’s Sneaker rocketed to the early lead and then held off littermate CG’s Penny Shoe by a length at the wire in 29.84. CET Sassy rounded out the trifecta ticket.

Completing the final field were Mac’s Zaxxon, fourth; CET Little Razz, fifth; TS Shaq, sixth; Mac’s Crabtree, seventh; and TS Tito Ortiz, eighth.

Both CG’s Sneaker and CG’s Penny Shoe won all three of their qualifying round races.

CG’s Sneaker, an October 2017 greyhound out of Jax Oxford-CG’s Maria, opened her career at Tri-State Greyhound Park. She was trained in Wheeling by Tom Engle and is owned by Janice C. Abrahamson.

I was introduced to greyhound racing by a friend in the late 1970s at Wheeling Downs and fell in love with the sport and the athletes immediately. Throughout the years, I have developed a deep passion for racing. In the mid 1990s, I started writing a weekly greyhound column and shortly thereafter became a writer for The Greyhound Review.

I have enjoyed watching and writing about these wonderful competitors, including All-Americans DD's Nelson, Kiowa Sweet Trey, Gene's Champion, WW Apple Jax, Greys Royalcrown, Nimby TP Jan, Hi Noon Hero, Gable Sour Cream, KB's Ruckus and Cry Case.
